It's National Pollinator Month and PSC is hard at work with legal and legislative advocacy work to protect pollinators. Back in 2011, UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Executive Director Achim Steiner said “The way humanity manages or mismanages its nature-based assets, including pollinators, will in part define our collective future in the 21st century. The fact is that of the 100 crop species that provide 90 per cent of the world’s food, over 70 are pollinated by bees.”
Unfortunately, native and managed pollinators have continued to face unprecedented declines due to pesticide use, climate change, and loss of biodiversity and habitat.
